This year as always, plenty of space including that for innovation and supporting activities for those family members less thrilled about the intricate advances suggested by new car models; retail gurus would tell us that the retail shopper - and thus the shop - is dead and that the new savvy public will venture away from the couch only to be more engagingly entertained. So, full marks to the organisers for that.
What we did miss however, was representation from many significant car brands which clearly felt that as they had no new car to announce, could save a few scheckles by not attending. Literally, poor show!
Thus it was left to Lego to announce a model Bugatti from bricks in immaculate detail, and to a North Vietnamese car maker called Vinfast to provide the entertainment - the latter making a truly grand job of it.
