ANALYSIS

Travel based on some kind of ticket on demand.  Each journey uses some formula mainly comprising time, distance and increasingly demand-based pricing.  The other determinant is that there is no contractual term investment to travel , other than a relatively small sum to obtain a ‘loyalty’ discount card.

The various modes of transport appear to include use of the car.  This not just because this website is all about cars, but also because increasingly it is extremely difficult to undertake all but the simplest journey without featuring car use.  In the UK this arises through lack of government-led national investment in the whole transport infrastructure.  Joined-up and complementary transport modes are extremely unusual in the UK - witness what should be inter-connected systems of under-invested and overloaded railway, bus, coach and motorway systems to adequately serve human traffic flows.
